Singapore, May 16 (ANI): Mixed martial arts (MMA) athlete Arjan Bhullar said on Sunday he was moved by the love and support he received after becoming the first ever world champion in MMA of Indian origin history.
Arjan “Singh” Bhullar dethroned longtime heavyweight king Brandon “The Truth” Vera to win the ONE Heavyweight World Title on Saturday.
Bhullar savored his victory and said only those close to him were aware of the struggle they have to go through before the flagship event.

“I am honored by the love and support from all over the world. As those around me know, we have been tested more than in any other, but the faith and belief have stood firm. When something is supposed to be nobody and nothing can stop it from happening. I love you all. God has been great, ”Bhullar tweeted.

Bhullar cautiously approached Vera in the first round, looking to string together combinations to organize a takeout. The Indian star suffocated Vera with feints and strikes, freezing the Filipino-American on his feet and making him hesitate to commit. Bhullar led Vera towards the end of the opening frame and controlled her on the mat.
In the second round, Bhullar capitalized on his feints by catching “The Truth” with an overhand right that sent him staggering towards the circle wall. A few more right hands compounded the damage, and a debilitating body shot left Vera gasping for breath.
Once “Singh” was able to close the distance and cling to the reigning world champion with a padlock, he signaled the beginning of the end. Bhullar brought Vera to the mat and beat her for the technical knockout victory. (ANI)
