Victoria Police Obtain Confident Disabled Recruiter Status
Victoria Police have a fundamental belief and value in hiring the right person for the right role and are committed to providing inclusive and accessible employment. With over 1,000 positions advertised each year, Victoria Police are proud to join the ranks as a Confident Disability Recruiter (DCR).

The goal of the program is to educate organizations on achieving inclusive and accessible recruiting.
For Victoria Police, it was Natale Cutri, the chairman of VP Enablers, the network of employees with disabilities, who highlighted the barriers to recruiting with the executive leadership team not only for himself, but for other disabled employees.
With the existing relationships already forged with employment service providers and DES providers, and the objective of addressing and improving the recruitment practices of public sector officers and state police Victoria, the executive director of the human resources department is committed to the DCR program.
By completing the program, the Victoria Polices recruiting team was able to change their mindset to include diversity and inclusion in their approach to the status quo. The team are now familiar with the workplace accommodations they can offer to assist candidates and future employees of the Victoria Police Force and were surprised to find how simple it was.

In the long term, Victoria Police are including Confident Recruiter Training for People with Disabilities in the online onboarding of new recruiters. The organization is also planning to potentially host more recruiting events based on DCR.
